Singapore Improv Festival

Frequently Asked Questions

TICKETING & REFUNDS

1. What is the festival stance on financial accessibility?

In line with our festival theme of “Together Gather” and this year’s artistic mission to foster and broaden our sense of community, we have adopted the following principles for the flow of resources:

  • We invite and support access and participation for everyone who wants to be there
  • We ask for what we need and offer what we can
  • We invite collective generosity and abundance
  • Workshops and their associated resources are to nourish our regional community of practice and build capacity - especially for collaboration
  • Expressions of need will be invited and met with care, discretion and support for people’s circumstances and dignity

2. What is Standard and Reduced Pricing?

In line with our festival theme of “Together Gather” and this year’s artistic mission to foster and broaden our sense of community, we are offering two price points for workshops: Standard and Reduced.

We are offering a reduced ticket price with the intention of increasing accessibility and allowing more participants to benefit from this training who wouldn't be able to otherwise. As you consider your decision, we kindly encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your personal financial circumstances and select your ticket price accordingly.

Standard Price: This price helps us to cover the direct costs of the festival, including venue rental and teaching fees. Please consider this option if your personal financial circumstances enable you to do so.

Reduced Price: This is a community-supported price made possible by contributions from our community. Please consider this option if the Standard Price is a barrier to attending the workshop.

3. What if both these options are still a financial barrier for me?

We operate with the principle of “ask for what we need, and offer what we can”. If the Standard and Reduced options are still beyond your capacity, you can ask for support from the Community Gifts Pot. For example, if you can only offer SGD 25, you can ask for SGD 50 from the Gifts.

Please write to us at [email protected] and include your name, contact details, the show/workshop slot(s) you wish to attend and what you can offer. Please note that each request is subject to seat availability and fund availability - so the earlier you ask, the better.

We know that asking for help sometimes requires lots of courage and consideration. Feel free to reach out to us if you would like to have a conversation before deciding. We would love to hear from you and discover together how we can make attending possible for you.

4. What is the Community Gifts Pot and how can I use it?

If you wish to contribute to the Community Gifts Pot, please write to us at [email protected]. All funds received for this pot will go towards covering the fee for participants with limited financial means. The exciting part is we are not starting from zero - we are starting with at least SGD 555 as of 1st August in the pot from our community!

About the Community Gifts Pot

We understand that these ticket prices might still be a lot for some people, while they are not much for others. That’s why we are creating a pot of funds called Community Gifts Pot that everyone can give to, and ask for support from. Offer what you can - whether you are attending these workshops or not, you can join us in enabling everyone who wants to be there by contributing to this pot.

This is the first time in the history of the Singapore Improv Festival that we have attempted a model like this, and any leftover funds in this pot will be saved to enable financial accessibility in future iterations of the Festival.

Special thanks to the people who inspired this model for us: The Art of Hosting.

5. What is the ‘Die-Die-Must-Watch’ All-Shows Pass and how do I redeem the shows I want?

‘Die-Die-Must-Watch’ All-Shows Pass allows you to redeem a single free ticket to every show at the Festival.

This ticket covers the cost of attending all of the shows in the Festival and includes an additional SGD 30 contribution to our Community Gifts Pot. This helps to provide a partial gift of attendance to someone in need of financial assistance. In addition, pass holders may look forward to more benefits and privileges, which will be announced closer to the Festival launch date.

Note that the ticketing platform requires you to redeem each show one by one before granting entry. This ticket amount of SGD 500 (excluding the booking fee) is fixed and final, regardless of the number of shows you redeemed.

10. Can I cancel or change my ticket?

All transactions once completed and confirmed are not exchangeable or refundable under any circumstances.

11. Do I need to purchase a ticket for my child?

It depends! Children below the age of 4 can enter and watch for free, provided they remain seated on the lap of a parent/guardian at all times and do not occupy a seat. For infants, they need to be carried in arms at all times. If your child cries and is unable to settle, we may request you step outside the venue temporarily to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Once your child is calm, you can re-enter the venue.

Please note that our shows carry different ratings as well:

  • Advisory 16 rating: Contains content with mature themes more suitable for audiences 16 years and above.
  • Restricted 18 rating: Contains content restricted to audiences 18 years and above. Anyone below the age of 18 will not be allowed entry upon random checks.

12. Do I need to purchase a ticket for a workshop and/or show if I am performing/conducting a workshop at the festival?

Yes! You are advised to purchase your tickets to the workshops and shows beforehand.

Entry to all workshops is strictly limited to ticket holders only.

Selected shows may be opened up to Festival Performers only on the date itself, subject to availability of seats after ticket sales are closed and on a first-come-first-claim basis. Hence, Festival Performers are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets to avoid disappointment.

13. I have other questions related to payment methods, ticket collections and/or troubleshooting when purchasing tickets.
